About Me
Editor | Cinematographer | Puppeteer
Hi, I'm Marcel van Werkhoven, an Editor, Cinematographer and Puppeteer based in Los Angeles, California.

As an Editor I value starting any video by giving my audience a reason to keep watching, and clear and simple storytelling.

In my free time I enjoy going on photo walks, scuba diving, and woodworking.

I began my filmmaking journey as a young kid, making my playmobil stop-motion animations in Windows Movie Maker. As I began high school, I grew a sudden fascination with all things Jim Henson, and quickly began making and performing muppet-style puppets. In 2016, I began doing some puppeteering work for Chuck E. Cheese, which piqued my interest in the film industry. Later on in 2018, I was selected to attend the Sesame Street Puppeteer's workshop, and began my college career.
Through college I began to work as a DP, shooting several short films and music videos. During my college career I began interning for University Marketing at Biola University, gaining skills in event work and live production. Upon graduation in 2022, I began my full-time job at Biola, and began working as a Video Producer for University Marketing. During this time, I shot and edited several facility tours and program videos, as well as ad campaigns for the university. I left Biola in 2025, and joined The Salvation Army as a video editor, where I edit short documentaries and testimonials detailing the work that The Salvation Army does in the western United States.
